North Central Iowa | Jus to make sure. You have the end snoots on right? Ok
Start from scratch, with head up and locked. Put weight on bar if you have too while adjusting; make sure bar is in lowest position and at each feeler pad, make sure it is jus touching or jus barely off it. Adjust as needed each one. That has to be done and checked for sure.
If by chance 1 feeler pad is holding the rest way up off. Dont jus move that one up. Move all the others down. Make sense? Otherwise you lose travel and some of the working range of potentiometer possibly. But hard to make sure on that comment. Hard to say , I've seen the adjustments so screwed up before....
Keep in mind. Maybe last guy hated head cause it never worked right....lol everything jus needs looked at. When my head was new it needed all of them adjusted to make it work better.
May not be your issue but it is necessary to have these correct first.
Get all dirt out from under head and blow out all the plastic bushings on feeler shaft.
Guessing maybe it has field tracker sensors, but that wont be hooked up, your 1660 doesnt have it right? So that will eliminate them being cause of problem.
Mine is a 2008 model 1020, so I'm sure that is latest black potentiometer, has weather pack type connector.
With extra adapter diode harness it works on my 1660. I can remember it seems like the sensitivity adjust is a very small area of what knob turns that it actually does anything.
Pics of potentiometer and arm orientation if that helps.
