| I’ve toured several engine remanufacturing facilities and a couple of them have been amazing to see what they can do. However......they basically end up taking a bunch of completely trashed engines and reclaiming enough parts to put together a running engine.
Your reman engine will likely have a crank that’s been turned down .010 - .030, a cracked head that was Sealaced, re-ground camshaft and a block with a reclaimed main bearing journal or two. They have processes and techniques to reclaim things a normal engine rebuilder wouldn’t consider reusing.
If you have the skills or a good engine rebuilder you trust the cost of rebuilding what you have won’t be much different than a reman BUT you’ll know exactly what’s inside it.
