Waxahachie, TX | I'd drop the pan and pull a cap or two off and look.. Like KTA said, if its locked up, and the crank and or block is bad, its going to start adding up quick. If the crank will turn and the block not have to be line bored then it won't be too bad.
A couple things to think about on a re build, if its an early 40 series with the crank driven oil pump, it and the cam probably need to be replaced. With that many hrs, I'd probably be thinking of it on a late engine too.
Also, if you buy a reman engine, make sure yours will count for a core. Sometimes they won't take them if they have certain failures.
Time is probably your biggest issue, but some places might not be much quicker, usually the biggest hold up is waiting on a machine shop or waiting for parts. | |
