It takes a week to a few weeks to get partially fat adapted and took me over six months to fully not hitting the energy wall once in a while.
One thing that helps a lot of people is taking some salt when they feel low energy. If you for medical reasons are on a low salt diet, consult your doctor first. But a lot of people from what I have learned from my research actually do not get enough salt.
