Subject: RE: Big dewatering pump question

I would be concerned with rocks being drawn into impeller. The baseball size ones. Had it happen on our lift station. The pump now has a expanded metal cage around it. When I built our station I poured a concrete floor, then used a culvert set vertical. Ran a horizontal tile line, 200' of 24" used as a tank into the vertical about 3 ft above floor. Then made a form around the vertical from floor up 8' and poured concrete in. There are multiple mains feeding into the tank as well as a surface intake/breather at far end of tank.
