Frytown, that is some very good advice. I myself am struggling with the same issues that the OP is l, with wanting to make the farm operation grow with limited resources and land. The one thing I can say to the OP is that if you think outside the box and have patience, things can progress for you. I have learned that it is better to start small so that your mistakes are small then grow bigger once you learn what works for you and your situation.

The thing that I struggle with is that in my area land is getting eaten up by development and the family farm operation is not turning out the way that I envisioned it due to land prices that are out of reach for anyone but a land developer. Frytown's point that you have to follow the opportunities that come your way is the best thing to take from this thread. Your future operation may not look like what you thought it would when you were younger but if you can be content with what you have you will live a much happier life.

To the OP, use your drive and determination to make improvements along the way, no matter how small, and then be proud of what you have done without comparing to your neighbors. I have a hard time with this but while you may wish you had more, there is probably someone out there who wishes they had as much as you do.
