West of Lincoln a little bit | seems crass, but become an indispensable farmhand for a guy whose kids don't want to farm, or who doesn't have kids. Maybe even a couple of them if they don't need a full time guy. Take some ag finance classes so you know what kind of scary numbers you'll be facing. Be ready to step in when the farmer is ready to retire. Show him you're capable. He may become nostalgic and want to pass it on to you (rented of course). Have seen it happen.
also, look for opportunities where they are selling a farmhouse. Around here, to rent the ground you have to buy the house.
