I think your agronomist needs his head checked if he thinks all stabilizers are snake oil. Agrotain is far from it. After last year, I'm tempted to use it with the 32 that is getting pre plant incorporated. Last year I sprayed just ahead of the soil finisher, but anytime I would get out of the tractor, I'd about choke from the ammonia smell. It was 85 degrees and humid for a few days there. Same conditions sidedressing, however dropped in some generic agrotain (using homemade y drops), absolutely 0 ammonia smell which is noticeably different than the stink of the agrotain. Figure if it buys us the 2 weeks it advertises, that's long enough to get a couple heavy dews or a rain to incorporate it. I'd be nervous not using the stuff if there was any chance it would sit more than a day. Cost was less than $3/acre to treat 100 units.
