W Texas | My problem with direct injection is the coulters and spikes don't line up perfectly for long, so you have to straighten them all out often. It depends on how straight your rows are, etc. Turn a few times with the rig in the ground and you better have a look and make sure everything still lines up.
Not sure why the stream would be put in front of the coulter, but that would not be a preferred practice "here".
As far as knife disturbance, it depends on soil types, depth of knifes, surface residue, and soil moisture content. Every field is different and you have to be prepared to take a different approach to each new challenge. | |
