They can screw it up through 3rd party affiliates: hotels.com, priceline.....
I try to get there right at check in if there's an issue. Hotel pretty much empty and they can still move you around into another room. Such as if you're right beside a major highway get a room on the backside to cut down on noise.
Do you re-re-re confirm hotel reservations?
