SWOH | I had to quit watching the evening news every night with my youngest son in the room several years ago, maybe when he was 5 or 6. Every shooting, accident, or whatever was the crisis of the day he would see...he just couldn't wrap his head around why somebody would do that kind of stuff and he would be genuinely concerned for whoever was involved...to the point I didn't think it was very healthy. He outgrew it for the most part but he still has a very caring heart and it affects him a lot, not nearly as bad as it used to. I agree with him though, there's too many senseless acts and we've had several great discussions about how the world is sometimes and all you can do is do what you can do. This kind of story doesn't really surprise or shock me anymore...which is extremely sad. | |
