could you not plant a later maturing variety to capture later rains? Then you would have the best of both worlds. That's what we have been doing here and it has been working, but so has the weather.
Don't worry, we've put out test plots many times. Planting a later maturity bean early does help, but not like waiting 4 to 6 wks. to plant.
