I say do it. I had severe deer damage on the outside 8 -24 rows so this is what I do. I load my planter with any of last year's leftover seed, or the cheapest seed I can get, and I plant around the edges of all the wooded fields at 33000 population. The rest of the fields I plant my good corn seed at 22000 on dryland. It works great and has helped keep the deer from entering through or cutting across the fields and has saved me money.
