It amazes me that most farmers will not rent a few acres of ground without something in writing or would not dare to go without insurance on their home, but they will pay the courthouse $30 and marry someone with little more than a handshake. If you plan on doing a prenup, you just as well mention it when the opportunity arises while dating and get it over with. If he or she says something along the lines of "prenups are silly, that's not what love is about and I would never sign such a thing", then you at least know where things stand and you can decide for yourself to move forward or move on.
