SW Wisconsin | I'm not married myself, but after seeing my parents split up, and go from owning the farm free and clear to in the end my parents both on food stamps, and I've got the farm with a mortgage for the full value, here's what I've come up with for if I ever do find the right girl: marriage is for life. I'll write up a will, with what happens if I die and she doesn't, what happens if she dies and I don't, and what happens if we both die at the same time. In the case of divorce property is disposed of as though we both died. Visitation rights for any kids, otherwise we'll both be back to riding a bike to McDonalds to flip burgers. Realistically the lawyers get it all anyway, this just makes it a little harder for the lawyers to claim somebody will "get their half," and there's a chance that it'll go to people and/or causes that we believed in when times were good. | |
