Selling the family farm is the equivalent to selling my soul. It's where I grew up, learned about life, spent time with my dad and grandpa who are now gone, made mistakes, learned to drive hunt fish wrench weld......
I am the trusted stuard of the land and my family herritage. One of every generation has stepped up and willingly took over the farms, and it's my privilege to be that person of my generation.
They can load my ashes in a fertilizer buggy and spread me. That's how I'm going out.
I used to feel that way. Like to feed my father to a bush hog now. $50k/acre, I'm out 100%. Meanwhile I will rent, and help my tenant farm. Having fun, but the satisfaction isn't there like running the place. Just going through the motions now. |
