Subject: RE: Pouring concrete shop floor with freezing temps

Central WI
I poured an addition on my shop last January. They had put some accelerant in the concrete but we ran 65F water through the pipes. They said they had never done that before, but it wound up being the best thing we could of done. They were expecting to have to wait around all day for it to set up to where they could finish trowel it but with the water running in the pipes it was a couple hours sooner than they expected.

I kept it running 65deg water for a week after the pour, and then after that set the thermometer to keep the floor temp at 40 deg and raised the water temp to maybe 80. Just dont run full temp water for a couple months. My biggest fear was that if I shut the heat off then with water in the lines I would either have to blow it all out or it would freeze, wasnt too bad to just keep the slab at 40-45 with a tarp over it too.
