West central IL | I farm but I know if I straight cash rented to ANY farmer, I'd have stipulations. I'd pay for my own soil tests and I'd want it in writing that the current fertility levels and pH would be the same or better each year. I'd stipulate certain tillage practices where necessary. And I'd want the option to shut them down if it's really abnormal conditions like really wet and they were rutting the crap out of my fields, with the understanding that I've farmed too and sometimes in a wet fall you've gotta do what you've gotta do to get it out of there. I'd also want 100% of my rent March 1st so I'd always have it before seed went in the ground. | |
