Do the Nebraska tests calculate fuel efficiency at near full rated HP or less ?
My experience was with a 466 powered gear drive IH, compared to a 466 JD powershift. (3788 VS 4450 ).
At the same 100+ HP load, the fuel effieciecy difference seemed slight,but on a light 25 -35 HP load,the JD used almost twice as much fuel. I have been told that a JD powershift trans absorbs about 15 HP more than a manual trans,which may account for the higher fuel consumption at a light load..
