Actually, back in 2000 (I think), Bern and I were evaluating which engine would be good for an irrigation engine on this outfit.

We came down to two choices:

1. Deutz water-cooled engines, using a heat exchanger and the pumped water so we could eliminate the fan. I forget the Deutz engine spec, but it was about 200HP, I-6, water cooled.

2. A NH Genesis engine, tuned for a 8870.

No other engine, and we examined LOTS of other engines, came close. If the engine can't do at least 22 HP-hr/gal, it isn't in the running.
