Subject: RE: Is that really fair?

Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow
Is it really necessary that every farmer have the skills and expertise of a seasoned commodities trader? That's what you are really demanding. Some of you fellows spend a good deal of time and effort on trading and that is perfectly fine if that is your inclination. But some of us actually fix and operate the equipment. My experience is that as long as I was watching the screen I could do Ok trading but as soon as I went out to grow and harvest the crop things could go bad in a hurry.
And as far as using a broker, have you ever found a broker who actually knew what the market was going to do and guarantee the results? I haven't, they're the biggest bunch of cowards alive and with good reason.
As far as Revenue Insurance, I bought a insurance product and paid a pretty good premium with the hope of protecting my revenue. That's no different than buying a option except it's bundled with weather protection as well. I was aware how it worked and was aware of it's limitations, specifically the time limitation. Revenue insurance is a relatively new product which now that we've seen how it works I might not use in the future.
