Yes some farmers have an extremely bad attitude. Everyone is against them from the government to the Coop to the seed dealer, to the neighbors and on and on and on. Fortunately not all farmers are that way but the ones that are sometimes give the rest of us a bad name. We as farmers over the years have convinced ourselves that nobody that has an off farm job works as hard as we do. That may have been sort of true at one time and in certain cases still is. Guys with a lot of livestock work harder than many of us that no longer have livestock and their city cousins in town. A guy with a dairy farm is a slave to those cows 365 days a year. Guys doing farrow to finish hogs or guys with cow calve operation can work awfully hard too. There is a lot of variation. We used to feed cattle and had farrow to finish hogs. After we got out of that and expanded row cropping I'm not going to sit here and tell you I work as hard as a lot of other folks here or a guy that lays bricks or walks iron of what have you.
