I bet there was a lot of stuff that happened that you have no idea about, and it happened well before your time. These are never black and white situations. How do you know grandpa didn't have a conversation w/ the others saying "you have the best ability to provide for yourself off the farm, so you need to go get a job" while your dad stayed?
As I said above, the farm wasn't a full time job. My dad worked a full time job away from the farm. Often 50 hours a week. The other 2 were asked constantly to help on the farm. You're right I don't know if that was true before my time but I can remember that being the case from the time I was 6 on. |
