My dad and I put in roughly 700-800 hours a year ( small farmers here). My aunt, cousin, and uncle( married dad's sister) combine for maybe 30. How does it stay a working farm without being split every generation.


That's not a working farm. That's a hobby farm. I agree w/ the way it was handled. It was your grandpa's to do with as he pleased.

Below you mentioned the other siblings priced it at $4K/acre above appraised value... If it went to a true auction, how much did you end up paying for it? Close to, or above what they were asking? If so, think maybe you were trying to screw them w/ a very favorable (for you) "appraisal"?
