Natural gas tightness is creating issues for the industry. Many plants are operating under curtailment rules that limit the amount of gas they can utilize without penalty. The penalties are steep and do not justify going over your allocated amounts. The amounts vary to the amount of firm transportation each plant has.
Add in poor rail performance and tough corn logistics, you add in reduced production.
