...I'm of the opinion that you can probably get slightly better penetration with your weld puddle with flux core. I used it the first time I tried my wire welder...because I was welding on galvanized downspouting. Did a better job with that first batch of welding than I did when I switched to solid wire and Argon/CO2 mixed gas. Took a while to get used to the solid wire...and making darn sure I had things exquisitely clean.
