E. Kansas
Life (and farming) used to go on all the time without cell phones. Things got done in good order most of the time without the need to be calling someone all the time about how to do everything or tell them about everything in detail as it is going on.

Certainly cell phones are handy and serve a lot of good purposes. But since they are available, they are used. I think you need to reconsider just how vital all the calls really are. If you really needed to have all of them, then so be it. Maybe it was just an extra busy phone day due to what was going on and everything else you were checking on.

But if anyone else in the farming operation can't make many decisions without your continual input throughout a common work day, I'd say you need to rethink that. Maybe you need to delegate more responsibility, or be there in person with them and have someone else in the office, or have the office in the shop.
