Driftless SW Wisconsin

Sales taxes are a state thing, not federal. Revenues go to the states. Local retailers complaining it gives online sellers an unfair advantage. State and local governments are losing a lot of sales tax revenue as sales switch to on line. Congress involved only because they regulate interstate commerce. But revenues will go to the states. They need the revenue to make up for part of federal reductions of payments to the states. Considered also a matter of fairness to local businesses. Equal treatment of sales seems to make sense.
