Rivers, MB
My days sound similar to yours. We have the same # of people at the farm as you.

Sometimes it feels like the phone runs our life. Then I stop and think, how would my day have gone (and everybody else's) if you and them hadn't had the phones. Yes, sometimes people need to learn to think for themselves more. But, how much did you get done on the farm as one unit because you could talk to each other during the day. Had you not talked to your mom, you would have had to make an extra trip or 2 for parts. The employee might have wasted 1 hour driving back to the yard when something simple broke down because he couldn't call anyone to bring the extra tire etc.

I remember my dad having a list of phone calls to make in the morning and then he went on his day. Now, those calls can get made on the go.

I'm convinced the phone, email, texting lets us get ALOT more done in a day.

Think my record was 150 phone calls/texts in one day. But it was our annual harvest day where we raise money for Canadian Foodgrains bank. We had approximately a dozen combines, 5 or 6 trucks and support crews along with food in the field all being arranged by a few of us. That was hectic.
