There is a science behind the application. I would definitely include at least 50% AMS in your mixture. You largest increase in yield comes from the plant being able to take up ammonium with nitrates in an equal balance. I had a great study (can't locate it now) that showed adding a nitrate source around tassel didn't do much for yield, but the ammonium sources ALWAYS increased yield if supplied around tassel and grain fill. I plan to experiment again with it this year. |
