Brazil was able to develope their ethanol industry for the same reason we developed ours------
Grain was CHEAP. In an era of high priced grains ethanol doesn't make as much sense. It would be intersting to figure it out(not sure how) but I bet the payoff time on a nuke plant is faster than the payoff on a windfarm. Anybody got the numbers?

You wanna cut fuel imports? Shut down the EPA, or at least get rid of these ridiculous emmissions regulations that are decreasing fuel economy and preventing us from running small, fuel efficient diesels. Remember the VW Rabbits? 50MPH in the mid 80's. The new Jeep Liberty Diesels get like 19MPG. It's ridiculous. How much is our overregulation adding to our fuel problem? I bet semi's could be getting nearly double what they get now if the manufacturers could concentrate on mileage instead of trying to get only water and O2 out of the tailpipe.
