Southwest OK | Huskey makes a good iron. I have switched to L and H, but only because a friend of mine is a dealer. If you'll keep the iron out of the wind you won't have any problems keeping it hot. We brand a calf every 45 seconds when everything is running smoothly, and seldom have to wait on an iron. As has been said, make sure your ground is good. No need in shocking the calf or you. Also, if you have to use an extension cord, it needs to be as heavy as possible. The longer it is the heavier it will need to be. Electric irons take a lot of juice. If you process in a shed you should think about an exhaust fan. The smoke will be rough. A well placed fan on the ground can also help.
