Subject: RE: corn on corn yield drag?

Central Iowa

Growing corn on corn has been a learning experience for me. I have learned from experience that coc needs to be managed differently. I have fine tuned my management of COC so that there is usually little difference yield wise with COB.

Here are some of my management ideas:

Make row area as black as possible and avoid mixing soil and residue in the row area.

Place at least a portion of nitrogen in the row. Don't skimp on nitrogen.

Keep all wheel traffic between the rows.

Plant a hybrid with a good disease package.
