Subject: RE: corn on corn yield drag?

central - east central Minnesota -

cyclone jeff - 11/15/2012 09:23 Thinking of doing some corn on corn next year..... what do you figure for a yield hit vs corn on beans or is there much difference anymore?

Agree with the other poster - and will add, weather makes a difference. Emergence is key. Black soils to warm up faster for emergence. This past season, it was ideal spring conditions and I used AMS / Sulfer in addition to Urea. I had 15bu better then last yrs first yr corn on alfalfa I broke up. The spring season plays a part in the yeild drag of CoC along with residue/microb management to release nurtientes to the growing crop - not tie them up.
