Central Minnesota | We tried a Dominator for a few rounds this fall in one of the fields next to our 2700.. I wouldn't call this year a decent year to give anything a trial. It was so dry, and the trash on top just was so fluffy that it didn't want to bury at all behind the dominator. Our 2700 left the ground much blacker. But it's not near as smooth as the dominator.
The other day, i did hear a rumor though that JD brought out the new replacement for the 2700... Kind of a hush hush thing. It was supposedly brought to Midwest Machinery in stewart. Was hauled there in van trailers. Unpainted. Mechanic's had to assemble it, then went out and tried it in a few fields. cob, and coc rotations. then brought it back in, disassembled it, and back into trailers it went. Don't know if the big wigs were there to stop the mechanics from taking any pictures with their cell phones or not. But from what i heard, it has real big blades in the front. The shanks are staggered instead of in a "V" like the 2700, and also had a big harrow and basket on the back. Now this is just what i had heard. Don't know how much to believe or not. Don't understand why JD would want to bring it all the way up to MN, rather than try it out somewhere by the plant. But who knows.
I do know there is a 2720 now. That's just a glorified 512 with bigger disks. So who knows what the new number will be on the replacement for the 2700. But after hearing what i heard about this "rumor" i'm pretty excited to see what they will have in the near future. | |
