| So, You are going 15mph on a bicycle, for instance. A car is going 50. If you are riding the same direction, you are closing at 35 mph. If you are going opposite directions, you are closing at a rate of 65mph. Let's just say that the distance you will see a cyclist and have time to prepare is 1000', for arguments sake.
At 35 mph this gap gets closed in about 20 seconds. At 65 mph, the gap gets closed in about 10 1/2 seconds. I like my odds better riding the right way. | |
