A calf on feed will consume about 3000# of feed in the feedlot, to put on about 500#. If all that feed was corn, which it's not, that would be about 55 bushels. At an additional $3 per bushel, that adds about $160 dollars to an 800# carcass. After some death loss, culls etc., about $.25 per pound.
