Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | None. Why would I worry about admitting it. Irrigated alfalfa, short of the government shutting off our irrigation water supply (don't laugh, it has happened) there isn't much too worry about. One of my customers had some of the worst hail damage I've ever seen on alfalfa a few years back, he still cut and sold enough that he was above the CAT level. Of course it was only one cutting out of 3-4, lot of chances unlike wheat where you only get one harvest.
I used to carry some when I grew wheat and barley for frost and hail. Never collected but it didn't cost much. I wouldn't think of growing something like potatoes without it. Costs on a crop like that are $2500/acre, more for onions. | |
