SW Indiana | One of my best friends has I think a 25 kw Generac standby generator. He also has the 200 amp auto transfer switch. Very simple and works great. I think the main concern with having the 200 amp auto switch is that the generator has to be big enough that no matter how much stuff is on in your house it can handle the load. If not it would just kill the generator. 14 to 17 kw sounds a little small to me for that. If your stuck on that size gen you might be better off with the 14 circuit switch. As ccjersey says the 200 amp switch transfers the whole house load from power company to generator at once. | |
