| Each time we sin we fall away from the closeness we should have with God- all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. I do not believe falling away is the same as losing eternal life.
Please consider how the II Peter 3:17 passage has been translated:
The New King James version says, "2Pe 3:17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;"
The King James says, "Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness."
The American Standard version says, "Ye therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own stedfastness."
Young's Literal Translation says, "Ye, then, beloved, knowing before, take heed, lest, together with the error of the impious being led away, ye may fall from your own stedfastness,"
The NASB says, "You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness,"
There is a big difference between not being steadfast to avoid wickedness and actually losing one's salvation. | |
