Subject: RE: No till corn question

Clark SD

Here are some pictures before and after planting corn into soybean stubble. The corn was planted may 18th using a 12 row Kinze with row cleaners set in the float position.  Keep in mind that this long term no-till on well drained soil.
I kept track of the soil temperatures at the 2 inch depth in the cleared seed row plus under the undisturbed residue. Using the high and low temperatures then calculating the corn gdd`s i figured if the corn was planted in residue covered soil it would have emerged 2 days later than the corn planted in the cleared row.
