Martinsville, Ohio | OK, I didn't read long enough before I posted, bad habit of mine. Keep treating your soil like gold, I like that. It is gold. At one and two percent it is really hard to build up OM without burying or mulching tons and tons of OM to get one ton of OM, the ratio is huge. And the plow layer and deeper root layer is so thick it quickly overwhelms the little bit of OM although it seems like you are already putting a lot into it. Once you get to three percent OM, it is a little easier to build OM but still very slow. Remember the old adage it takes 100 years to build an inch of topsoil and you can lose it in one heavy rain event.
You are on the right track, stay on it but you have to stop taking so much residue out of your system to ever see OM go up.
