Subject: Question Gerald...

Do you know what kind of cost and production a greenhouse heated with waste heat is capable of? What are the economics with an operation like that?

We had a greenhouse facililty here at home, used waste heat from a natural gas fired power facility. About 40 acres worth of greenhouses, strictly tomato production. Seemed like the greenhouse facility was always going broke, another company would lease the greenhouses, and in 3 or 4 years they would be broke. Now all the greenhouses are empty, and no one in interested in leasing them either.

So are these kinds of setups generally profitable? Would something else other than tomatoes be better? Was it just of bad management here?
