| I appreciate your comments and I never intended to come off as insulting anyone or putting anyone down. I'm sorry if I made anyone feel that way. I agree opinions are good but it's hard when they include false information. Much like my initial claim that these free viewers were missing Ag Leader file formats. I'm not afraid to point out I'm wrong on anything as long as someone can prove that to me.
As for a viable alternative to a proprietary file format. I still think it's the best option because it's simple and widely used in the GIS industry. I know my original post discussed frustrations with a free viewer but I definitely in favor of paying for software and I do. Another poster brought up KML files, that may be good candidate too.
Lastly, I have read in a few places there is an industry committee that has been formed recently that plans to put standards together, like a common file format. I hope that many us will support the efforts of this if they want to see this happen. | |
