20 ears big enough to land on the stripper plates and go through the machine probably lands more corn on a truck than 36 ears that are so small they go through the stripper plates and land on the ground.....
The acres I'm talking about yielding more with less seed, 20 ears big enough to make it into the combine = a huge crop.
The prescription for that particular field varies from 17k to 29k. 17k is still plenty of seed to maximize yield potential, but you need something there so the weeds don't take over.
