  | Did exactly what OP is proposing 20 years ago, we love it, I did it "simple farmer style" though. Bought a new Dairy Vac brand power unit, the square box type with wheels on it. Installed the unit in the basement with the exhaust plumbed outside. House is a simple ranch with walkout basement. Put 2 outlets upstairs so can reach every room easily with a 30' hose. Also bought the hose and power head form Dairy Vac, not impressed with the powerhead, but gradually over the years have gotten down to just one carpeted room that is the master bedroom. For power I used 2- 20 amp 3 way switches (one up stairs and one downstairs) with in 10 feet of the outlets. One unforseen advantage of this is that by the time you walk over to the switch to turn it off the dirt is sucked out of the hose, so no dirt trail from the hose on the clean floor, this is one complaint I heard after installing ours. If you want more info or have questions You can post here, or e-mail is good, can set up a call if you wish., | |
