We did it during a total remodeling though. All new sheetrock. If you do yours hidden behind walls, you better be REAL handy. There may be other methods though. Our vac is in the attached garage so handy cleaning out cars too.
She has several attaching places for the hose in different rooms plus a couple of "kick openings" (probably not the correct term) where she can manually sweep into with a conventional broom. Handy in the kitchen for minor spills.
