1824! Your ancestors were native Americans? The first white farm settlers arrived in Iowa well after that I thought. I guess it is very likely that many generations have passed when considering they were not real young when they first settled. You could be younger also.
My wife's family broke sod in our part of Iowa 5 generations ago. The original plat map was really bare. No towns or roads!
