Subject: Culvert install

KY
Putting in a 24” culvert in a narrow ditch. Have had some wash out a few feet around the ends in similar situations with repeated heavy rains until I sloped and rocked them. Would like to get most of the width out of this one, older neighbor said he has always dropped the tile in and then stacked bags of quickrete on both ends and drove rebar through the stacks to bind them together. I was thinking more along the lines of cutting a crescent out of two sheets of plywood to fit around the culvert about 6” from the end and join them on each side with a 2x6 for a form and drive two t-posts through each of the forms and pour them. Wait a day and then pop the forms off and fill in between and rock the top. Guess a fella could slant the forms some toward the middle of the crossing to maybe lessen the tendency of the water wanting to wash underneath? Ditch is probably 3.5 to 4 feet deep, so 18-24” of fill to be level on both sides.
