SE SD | Fighting the cornstalk battle today and mostly loosing. Currently I work them in the fall with a good Sunflower disc and again in the spring with the same disc. What I would like to do is go over them in the fall with a disc/chisel plow tool of some sort and use the field cultivator in the spring. We use a 1063 case ih corn head that beats the stalk up pretty good but certainly is not a chopping corn head. Plant about 32k pop and last year had corn over 200 bu. Also should mention that I am an sto and a chopping corn head isn't in the budget although I would love one. Sizing of stalks and turning up black dirt is the main concern. I have an 895 Versatile rated at 310 hp to pull it with. Budget would be under 20 grand, preferably a lot under. I realize it is asking a lot but a tool that I could lift the disc blades and use on bean ground without turning it too black would be awesome. Thanks for your ideas. | |
